Senior health

Geriatric medicine deals with the physical and mental health of aging people. Diagnosis and therapy are tailored to the physical and mental changes of the elderly patient. Pharmacotherapy in old age must take special criteria into account and, if possible, not overload the administration of medication as long as the different clinical pictures allow this. Prescriptions must also be adjusted repeatedly over the course of treatment and recorded centrally and electronically. Specialist prescriptions must be compared with the current medication plan during the course of treatment.

Aging processes can be accompanied by a loss of abilities, an increase in illnesses and chronic limitations. To assess this, we use recognized test procedures for mobility screening, dementia testing and mental health issues.

Acupuncture as a non-medicinal procedure often shows good accompanying effectiveness for chronic pain, e.g. due to osteoarthritis, muscle hardening or nerve irritation syndromes, polyneuropathies and RLS. You can find more information on our acupuncture page.

Physiotherapy, rehabilitation sports, occupational therapy and the provision of aids can be prescribed if indicated.

In old age, vaccinations against pneumonia or seasonal viral influenza and Covid are important from the age of 60 for chronic diseases in order to prevent severe disease progression. The risk of shingles can be reduced by vaccination.

We advise our patients in conjunction with their relatives when applying for a care allowance and try to help them find a care service.
My aim is to maintain your quality of life and independence in old age.
